A short descriptive essay on a village or a city
- Write an introductory paragraph: The introductory paragraph should introduce the village or city and your focus. It should also provide a brief overview of what you will be writing about in the rest of the essay (general opinion).
- Write descriptive paragraphs: The body of your essay should be made up of descriptive paragraph(s). In this/these paragraph(s), you should use vivid language to describe the village / city and its features. You can use sensory details, such as sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch, to bring the village to life for your readers. Give examples of what you like / don't like. Mention your favourite place.
- Write a concluding paragraph: The concluding paragraph should summarize the main points (summary of opinion) of your essay and leave the reader with a lasting impression.

How to write a semi-formal e-mail
A semi-formal e-mail is written to someone that you know by name and with whom you have a professional or business relationship with, for instance; your teacher, accountant, landlord, etc. The surname should be used when addressing them – Dear Mrs.Thomas, Dear Mr Jones.
A semi-formal greeting > Dear Mr Hopkins, Dear Mrs Thomas.
When signing off the e-mail, ‘Yours truly’, ‘Sincerely yours’ and ‘Yours faithfully’ would be used for semi-formal or formal e-mails. In semi-formal e-mails, you can also use – ‘With best wishes’ and ‘With regards’.
